Royal Henley Residents are Nordic Pole Walking

Nordic walking is a type of walking using poles that look similar to those used in cross country skiing.  Its a great way to stay fit and enjoy the outdoors.   This is a great exercise that involves not only the muscles from your lower body but also those from your arms and upper back in order to move the poles. The swinging motion of the poles and your legs will feel natural with a little practice. The aim is to develop a rhythm that works best for you. While walking, one uses one’s arms to help push forward when taking a stride. This is similar to cross-country skiing, where the poles are placed behind you as you move forward.

Our group of walkers had a wonderful day out in the neighborhood.
